Fjallsárlón is a glacier lake at the south end of the Icelandic glacier Vatnajökull in Vatnajökull National park, eastern region Iceland. Fjallsjökull glacier, which is part of the bigger glacier, reaches down to the lake’s water, and some icebergs drift by on the lake.
The glacier calving into the lagoon is a part of Vatnajökull National Park and the better-known glacier lake Jökulsárlón is not far away. From the glacier lake Breiðárlón, a little river flows into the Fjallsárlón. The famous volcano Öræfajökull is looming above.
Location: Fjallsárlón, 785 Öræfi, east region Iceland.
Driving from Reykjavik takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. (370 km).
