The Cinematic Gullfoss Waterfall is one of Iceland’s most beautiful and beloved waterfalls, found in the HvÃtá river canyon in the Southern region of Iceland.
The waterfall is not the most powerful in Iceland but certainly one of the most iconic and one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions.
The waterfall consists of two spectacular cascades; a shorter cascade is 11 meters (36 feet), while the second drop is 21 meters (69 feet).
Up to approximately 140 cubic meters (459 cubic feet) of water surges down the waterfall every second!
On sunny days, the water spray from the waterfall produces numerous colorful rainbows.
The cinematic Gullfoss waterfall Iceland is located in the Southern Region and is part of The Golden Circle sightseeing route and is highly recommended!
